A typical target weight per pack might be 100 grams. Product is fed to the top of the weigher and dispersed to pool hoppers, which drop product into weigh hoppers below when empty.

The computer determines weights in each hopper and selects the combination closest to the target weight. The selected hoppers open, and product falls via discharge chute into packaging.

Dispersion methods include gravity, vibration, or centrifugal force. Feeding can be driven by vibration, gravity, belts, or screw systems.

Optional booster hoppers store weighed but unused product, increasing available combinations for improved speed and accuracy.
